Criw Celf
Raising the Bar was an arts education programme for talented and motivated AS and A Level Art and Design students, offering opportunities to extend their creative practice beyond the school curriculum. Through masterclasses and workshops led by professional artists and designers, participants explored new materials, techniques and approaches to contemporary visual and applied arts, developing their skills, knowledge and confidence as emerging creative practitioners.
Portfolio was a creative development programme for young people aged 13–16 from Swansea and Neath Port Talbot, developed by Mission Gallery and funded by the Arts Council of Wales. The programme offered participants the opportunity to explore a broad range of visual and applied arts through workshops and masterclasses with professional artists and designers, encouraging experimentation, creative thinking and the development of their own artistic interests and ideas.
Criw Celf Primary was an Arts Council of Wales-funded project at Mission Gallery for children in Years 5 and 6 from Swansea and Neath Port Talbot who demonstrated a particular talent or interest in art. Taking place over several Saturdays, the programme offered participants five masterclasses led by professional artists and designers, exploring a range of artistic techniques, materials and creative approaches. It provided an exciting and encouraging environment for young people to develop their skills, discover new ways of working, make friends with shared interests and further their enthusiasm for the visual arts.
As Learning Coordinator for Criw Celf at Mission Gallery, I coordinated an arts education programme supporting young people with a particular talent or interest in the visual and applied arts. The programme encompassed three age-specific strands: Criw Celf Primary for Years 5 and 6, Portfolio for young people aged 13–16, and Raising the Bar for AS and A Level Art and Design students.
Working with professional artists and designers, the programme provided opportunities for participants to develop their creative practice, explore new materials and techniques, and expand their knowledge of contemporary art and design. My role involved coordinating learning activities and workshops, supporting the delivery of the programme, and helping to create an engaging and encouraging environment in which young people could develop their skills, confidence and creative potential.
